Pollution in ASEAN

Pollution in ASEAN is a major threat to humans and the environment. Ambient air pollution is recognised as a global problem that requires local, regional and international action, while indoor air pollution significantly affects women and children and can have long lasting and costly health impacts. Plastic waste and debris are flowing into the oceans at unprecedented rates. The focus of ARIEL is to identify effective legal and policy solutions to reducing air pollution, including transboundary haze, plastic waste and improve their management. ARIEL will continue to work with partners in the region to promote discussion on the impacts of pollution, in particular on children, women and other sectors disproportionately affected.
